Malaysian doctor Wong Lu Yang issued a public apology on Facebook after a video emerged online claiming he was involved in an extramarital affair. The incident took place on August 27, when Wong expressed remorse, particularly towards his wife, acknowledging the hurt he caused her. He thanked her for accepting him back into their home.

Earlier that day, Wong stated in another Facebook post that his family had been targeted by blackmail attempts prior to the video’s release. He indicated that their refusal to comply with the blackmail demands led to additional distress for his wife when the scandal became public knowledge. Wong mentioned that they had anticipated this situation months earlier and felt a second wave of regret when the accusations surfaced.

In response to the online harassment stemming from the incident, Wong confirmed that he has filed a police report. He reported being a victim of cyberbullying, stating that personal and family information was shared without consent. Wong has indicated the possibility of pursuing legal action against those disseminating defamatory content.

In light of the scandal, Wong has been suspended from his role as president of the youth leadership organization JCI Kota Bharu, with immediate past president Tan Zhi Qian taking over temporarily. The organization clarified that this matter is a personal one and is unrelated to its activities.
