A 38-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a theft that occurred at the Louvre Museum in Paris last month, according to reports from French media. The charges against her include complicity in organized theft and criminal conspiracy intended to commit a crime. She appeared before a magistrate who will determine whether she will be detained.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested earlier this week alongside four other individuals. Additionally, two men, who had been arrested prior, have been charged with theft and criminal conspiracy after they reportedly “partially recognized” their involvement in the incident.
On October 19, jewels valued at approximately €88 million (£76 million; $102 million) were stolen from the museum, which is known as the world’s most-visited art institution. The recovery of these valuable items remains pending. Further developments in the case could clarify the extent of the alleged criminal network involved.
