Withings adds predictive AI health features to the ScanWatch 2

Withings has announced an update for its ScanWatch 2 smartwatch at IFA 2025, introducing a new operating system named HealthSense 4. This update incorporates advanced algorithms for tracking 35 health metrics and includes AI-powered alerts to notify users of changes in their health. Additionally, the ScanWatch 2 will now be available in two new colors and has an improved battery life, extending to 35 days, which is an increase of approximately five days from the previous version.

The updated algorithms are designed to enhance activity tracking and step counting, while sleep tracking will feature more accurate assessments of sleep stages and respiratory patterns. For Withings Plus members, a new Vitality Indicator will aggregate various health metrics, such as heart rate variability, activity levels, body temperature, and blood oxygen saturation, to provide insights into energy levels and fatigue.

The introduction of predictive AI features will allow users to receive notifications related to health occurrences, such as the onset of a menstrual cycle or potential illness. This trend of integrating AI into health metrics is not unique to Withings, as other companies, like Oura, have implemented similar features aimed at predicting health events.

The new color options—blue and silver—are exclusively available in the 42mm size. New customers will receive a one-month free trial of Withings Plus upon purchase, granting access to features including an AI health assistant, the newly introduced Vitality score, and the Cardio Check-Up feature, which allows cardiologists to review heart health data. The updated ScanWatch 2 will be available for purchase starting September 5th at a price of $369.95.
