Viral video with minor lands UP YouTuber in trouble; arrested, then granted bail

A video featuring YouTuber Shadab Jakati in a shopkeeper role, which reportedly included inappropriate dialogue involving a minor girl, has led to his arrest in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Following complaints made by local resident Rahul to the Chief Minister’s office and police, Jakati was detained by authorities.

Complaints regarding Jakati’s video, which showed him interacting with a minor and two women, prompted further actions from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). The police registered a case against him and took him into custody, although he was later granted bail after a court hearing.

The video, which went viral, raised concerns among social media users regarding child safety and content creation boundaries. Following his release, Jakati defended himself, stating that the video had been misunderstood. He claimed the child featured is his daughter and the woman is his wife. Jakati suggested the dialogue was intended as a compliment, and he ultimately removed the video upon realizing it caused distress.

Acknowledging the situation’s impact, he expressed disappointment that the controversy originated in his hometown, and he indicated a willingness to apologize to anyone who felt offended. Jakati emphasized his commitment to creating family-friendly content going forward.
