New Delhi: A video circulating on social media purports to show visitors vandalizing Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entitled “Zero Civic Sense,” the video has garnered around 230,000 views on X and has been retweeted more than 1,000 times. Within the footage, a man is seen writing on a wall while two other individuals document the act on their phones.
In response, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) stated that while parts of the video appear to be from Humayun’s Tomb, other segments might have been filmed at different locations. An inspection revealed existing graffiti at the site; however, no new markings were found. ASI officials noted that the timing of the video remains uncertain, complicating efforts to assign responsibility or identify staff on duty.
The ASI acknowledged the ongoing issue of vandalism at historical sites and confirmed that police reports are filed when such incidents occur. Plans are underway to initiate staff training and to increase security measures at Humayun’s Tomb following a reshuffling of on-site guards last month.
