Users of the second-hand shopping app Vinted have expressed frustration following an update that altered the sizing categories for women’s and children’s clothing without prior notification. The adjustment has led to discrepancies, with many listings now showing incorrect sizes compared to those initially posted by sellers.
The company stated that the new sizing system aims to create consistency with other platforms. Users were encouraged to review their listings and manually correct any size discrepancies, which has further added to their dissatisfaction. The previous sizing method included both a single numeric size and a letter designation (e.g., S/8 or M/10), while the revamped system introduces letter sizes with numeric ranges (e.g., S/UK 8-10).
Some users noticed significant reclassifications in sizes; for instance, a size L that used to correspond to a size 12 is now categorized as a UK 16-18. Similarly, an XXL/16 has been revised to an XXL/UK 24-26. Vinted described the new system as making it easier to get accurate information, particularly for items from international brands.
The response from users has been varied, with some, like Charlotte Lunn from Derby, voicing displeasure at the need to update each listing individually, citing personal difficulties due to chronic illness. Vinted has yet to respond to inquiries regarding this user feedback.
As the situation unfolds, it raises the question: how might changes like these impact user retention and overall satisfaction on platforms reliant on user-generated content?
