The Nurmahal police have registered a case against two individuals for the alleged rape of a girl, administering intoxicants, and making a video of the crime that was subsequently shared on social media. The suspects have been identified as Prabhjit Singh from Taj City colony in Nakodar and Inderjit Singh from Kanganniwal village, under Sadar Jalandhar police jurisdiction.

According to Nakodar DSP Sukhpal Singh, the victim reported that the accused provided her with intoxicants before assaulting her. They allegedly threatened her with the release of the videos if she did not comply with their demands. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 64(2) for rape, 61(2) for criminal conspiracy, and 351(2) for criminal intimidation, alongside Sections 67 and 67(a) of the Information Technology Act. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects.

In addition, the Punjab State Women’s Commission has issued a notice to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Jalandhar (rural) directing action against the individuals involved.
