Topshop is set to make a return to UK High Streets in February 2026, five years after closing all its stores. The brand will be featured in 32 John Lewis locations, with its menswear line, Topman, available in six of those stores. Topshop originally vanished following the decline of Sir Philip Green’s retail empire, which included several brands such as Burton and Dorothy Perkins.
After being acquired by the online retailer Asos, Topshop’s majority stake was sold in September 2022 to Danish retail mogul Anders Holch Povlsen. Since then, the brand has initiated a revival, with products available online through both Asos and a newly relaunched standalone Topshop website. The extent of Topshop’s return to physical retail had been uncertain until recently, with managing director Michelle Wilson confirming customer interest in the brand’s return to stores.
The upcoming Topshop spring collection will consist of 120 items, curated specifically by John Lewis. Peter Ruis, Managing Director at John Lewis, mentioned that the brand will occupy a prominent space in stores, aiming to attract new customers. He expressed confidence that the collaboration will draw shoppers to the department store.
While Topshop has faced challenges over recent years, including struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic and difficulties in adapting to changing consumer preferences, its partnership with John Lewis marks a significant nationwide comeback effort for the brand. The collaboration is notable, as other retailers, such as Liberty London, have also begun selling limited Topshop collections. Graham Soult, a retail consultant, remarked that this partnership could serve as a model for reviving iconic brands in today’s retail landscape.
