Timekettle has introduced the W4 AI Interpreter Earbuds, a new product designed for real-time translation. Utilizing bone conduction technology, these earbuds aim to enhance accuracy in noisy environments. They are priced at $349 and are currently available in navy blue and sandy gold.
This new model serves as a more budget-friendly alternative to the company’s previous over-the-ear W4 Pro, which was released at a price of $449. The design of the W4 AI earbuds is intended for casual use and resembles modern wireless earbuds, albeit with a larger stem compared to competitors like Apple’s AirPods. The increased size is attributed to additional electronic components necessary for running the Babel OS 2.0, which employs AI language models to facilitate translation.
The W4 AI earbuds claim to convert speech across 42 languages and 95 accents, achieving up to 98 percent accuracy. This high level of performance is based on the device’s ability to understand context, enabling it to distinguish between similarly pronounced words. Users can also customize their lexicon to avoid misunderstandings in specialized conversations.
A notable feature of the W4 AI is its dual microphone system, which includes a standard microphone paired with a bone conduction sensor. This setup is designed to improve voice recognition in loud settings and allows for quieter speech, potentially benefiting users who prefer discreet communication.
In terms of battery performance, the earbuds boast up to four hours of continuous translation use, extending to ten hours when utilizing the accompanying charging case. Additionally, they can function as standard wireless earbuds for music playback, with battery life reaching up to eight hours, or 18 hours with supplementary charging from the case.
