This announcement follows the release of Apple’s fourth-quarter earnings report, which indicated the company achieved a record revenue of $102.5 billion for the past quarter, an eight percent increase from the previous year. The report suggests that sales from the newly launched iPhone 17 lineup contribute only a minor portion of the overall iPhone revenue, which totals $49.03 billion. The iPhone 17 lineup features the new iPhone Air, described as Apple’s thinnest device, alongside the upgraded iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models. Notably, this year’s entry-level iPhone includes features traditionally found in Pro models, including always-on display and ProMotion support for enhanced scrolling experience.
Additionally, Apple reported Mac revenue of $8.72 billion and generated $6.95 billion in iPad sales. The company’s services segment, encompassing subscriptions for platforms such as Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Fitness Plus, and Apple Arcade, grew to $28.8 billion.
