Ticketmaster ordered to give fans better price information, after Oasis investigation

Ticketmaster has agreed to provide clearer information about ticket pricing following complaints related to the Oasis reunion tour last year. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) stated that the company will now inform fans 24 hours in advance if a tiered pricing system is in effect, which was the case for the Oasis standing tickets. Additionally, Ticketmaster will enhance transparency regarding pricing during online ticket queues.

The CMA’s involvement stemmed from concerns that Ticketmaster may have misled fans regarding pricing details. Specifically, platinum tickets were priced at nearly two-and-a-half times the standard rate, yet Ticketmaster did not convey that these tickets did not come with additional benefits. This raised questions about consumer understanding of pricing structures.

The changes are positioned to help consumers make more informed decisions when purchasing tickets in the future. The implications of these adjustments on future ticket sales and consumer experience remain to be seen.
