Gurman confirmed that Kuo’s timeline is accurate, although the expected launch date has shifted, moving from late 2025 to late 2026 or early 2027 since Gurman’s initial report.
Historically, Apple has been hesitant to fully integrate touchscreen technology into its MacBook lineup, maintaining a distinct separation between its iPad and MacBook products. However, Gurman noted that iPad sales are experiencing a decline, and there is a growing consumer expectation for touch-based interfaces on laptops. This trend is partly influenced by the prevalence of touchscreens in many Windows laptops. As a result, Apple may feel compelled to adapt its product offerings to better align with market expectations.
