The iPhone 17 series was launched a little over a month ago, but Adobe’s camera app, Project Indigo, does not yet support the latest models. While the app can run on older devices, such as the iPhone 12 Pro, it is currently incompatible with the iPhone 17 Pro. This issue appears to stem from problems related to the new selfie camera, according to a post on Adobe’s community forum.
Boris Ajdin, a product manager for Project Indigo, provided updates regarding the lack of iPhone 17 support on the forum. He indicated that the team has encountered challenges specifically with the front camera, for which they have reported issues to Apple. Ajdin mentioned that a fix is expected to be included in the upcoming iOS 26.1 update, although this may require disabling the front camera feature in the app until the update is released.
The initial hope was to resolve these issues quickly; however, Ajdin later suggested that more time would be needed. He expressed optimism for an update within the current week. Efforts to gather additional information about the selfie camera challenges from Adobe were directed back to the forum posts.
Project Indigo, launched earlier this summer, has attracted a dedicated user base due to its promise of more natural image processing compared to conventional smartphone cameras. Created by a team led by Marc Levoy—known for his work on the Google Pixel camera—Indigo is currently an experimental app exclusively for iOS users, with Android support still pending. Levoy earlier indicated that Android compatibility is a priority, but presents significant challenges.
