Spotify has launched a redesigned version of its app for Apple TV, which the company describes as being rebuilt for a faster and more visual experience. This updated tvOS app incorporates several features from its mobile counterpart, notably the addition of video podcasts and music videos.
The new version has been made available for download through Apple’s App Store, and users with devices set to automatic updates should receive it by mid-November. Some users reportedly accessed the update a few days prior to the official release. Previous iterations of the Spotify app on tvOS received criticism on platforms such as Reddit, with users highlighting issues such as difficult navigation and a lack of features present in the app for Google TV. The latest version appears to address many of these concerns.
While music videos are not yet accessible in the U.S. or Canada, this feature has already rolled out to 97 markets worldwide, available with a limited catalog for Spotify Premium users. A prompt to “switch to video” will appear when a song with an accompanying music video is played in Spotify’s catalog.
Video podcasts will function similarly in the new app, with an option to adjust playback speed. Additionally, Spotify recently announced a partnership with Netflix and The Ringer to produce 16 video podcast series set to debut in the U.S. in 2026. These will include popular shows such as The Bill Simmons Podcast and content focused on the NFL, NBA, Fantasy Football, and Formula 1.
The updated app also integrates new mobile features such as queue management, seamless playback, song lyrics, and access to Spotify DJ, which uses artificial intelligence to suggest new listening options. Playback can also be controlled via the Spotify mobile app on a smartphone or tablet.
