The newly refreshed PlayStation 5 (PS5) is marketed with an internal storage capacity of 825GB; however, a review by Evan indicates that the actual usable storage is limited to 667.2GB. This reduction is attributed to the space consumed by the operating system and pre-installed applications. In contrast, the previous digital-only version featuring a 1TB SSD provides 848GB of usable storage.
In addition to the storage discrepancies, the updated PS5 introduces a new matte finish and incorporates smaller components, resulting in a weight reduction of approximately 100 grams compared to the original model. While Sony has not explicitly stated the reasons for these changes, a recent company announcement regarding price increases references a “challenging economic environment.” As of now, there has been no official information about the potential release of this updated console outside of Europe.
