Silksong is out soon, and indie games are getting out of the way

On August 22, Team Cherry announced that the highly anticipated game, Hollow Knight: Silksong, will be released on September 4. Following this announcement, several indie developers have postponed their game launches to avoid competing with Silksong.

Panik Arcade has shifted the release of its game, CloverPit, originally set for September 3, to September 26. The studio expressed its desire for the game to receive the best chance for success. Similarly, Talegames has delayed the launch of its adventure RPG Faeland, which was planned to exit early access on September 9. The developer cited the need for careful timing to ensure proper attention for the game.

Aeternum Game Studios has announced a significant delay for its 2D sidescrolling game Aeterna Lucis, now set for release in 2026. The studio highlighted a lack of visibility and the unavailability of development kits for next-generation platforms as reasons for the postponement.

Frogteam Games has also decided to delay the demo launch of its 2D exploration game Stomp and the Sword of Miracles, which was originally scheduled for August 29. The team noted the challenges faced by indie developers in gaining visibility, especially with the release of major titles like Silksong.

Despite these delays, early September remains busy with notable game launches, including Demonschool by Necrosoft Games on September 3, Hell is Us by Rogue Factor on September 4, and Cronos: The New Dawn by Bloober Team on September 5. The developers of these titles have been contacted regarding their plans in light of Silksong‘s release.
