Sanju Samson’s First Words After Joining CSK Go Viral Ahead Of IPL 2026

India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has been traded to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL 2026 season. This trade, seen as a significant move within the league, follows weeks of speculation regarding Samson’s future.

CSK announced the acquisition via a video on their social media platforms, showcasing Samson in the team’s yellow jersey. This marks a new phase for CSK as they prepare for a future beyond iconic player MS Dhoni, who has been a defining figure for the franchise.

In the announcement video, Samson expressed his excitement about joining CSK after years of competition against them, emphasizing his readiness to embrace a leadership role within the team. His arrival is anticipated to provide a long-term solution to CSK’s need for a successor to Dhoni, a concern that has lingered since 2020.

This trade involved a two-for-one agreement, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran moving to RR. It was confirmed that Jadeja’s salary would decrease from Rs 18 crore to Rs 14 crore, while Samson will maintain his salary of Rs 18 crore and Curran will remain at his previous contract of Rs 2.4 crore. Jadeja’s departure is particularly notable, given his longstanding association with CSK and critical contributions to the team’s success.

CSK Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan stated that the decision for Jadeja to leave was mutual but acknowledged the emotional ties associated with the player’s exit.
