Samsung’s new party speakers are less subtle than ever

Samsung has been involved in the party speaker market for several years, initially gaining attention with its Giga line over a decade ago. Recently, however, its new products in this category have been more conservative in design, largely featuring subtle lighting elements. This trend seems to change with the introduction of two new Sound Towers: the ST50F and ST40F, which are both equipped with prominent LED lighting.

The ST50F and ST40F showcase a large LED “racetrack-style” light strip on the front, in addition to lights positioned around the tweeters, the edge of the body, the base, and the handle. Consumers can choose from six dynamic lighting patterns and five mood presets, indicating a focus on visual customization.

In terms of specifications, the ST50F offers a sound output of up to 240W, a battery life of 18 hours, and includes integrated wheels for ease of transport, priced at $699.99. The smaller ST40F, with a maximum output of 160W and a battery life of 12 hours, does not feature a rollable design and is available for $499.99.

These new offerings raise questions about consumer preferences in portable audio solutions and the balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.
