Samsung is initiating a pilot program aimed at enhancing value for home appliance customers in the U.S. As part of this effort, specific models of the Samsung Family Hub refrigerator will feature promotions and curated advertisements.
The pilot program includes an over-the-network (OTN) software update for Family Hub refrigerators, which will introduce new Terms of Service (T&C) and a Privacy Notice (PN). Advertisements will be displayed on the Cover Screens of these refrigerators when they are idle. It is noted that the design format of these ads may vary based on individual personalization settings for the Cover Screen. Importantly, advertisements will not appear when the Cover Screen is in Art Mode or displaying picture albums.
Upon seeing an advertisement on the Cover Screen, users will have the option to dismiss it. Once an ad is dismissed, it will not reappear during the campaign duration.
This initiative is part of Samsung’s broader strategy to innovate and provide added value to users of their home appliances.
