In 2025, the PlayStation will commemorate its 30th anniversary since its initial release in North America and Europe, following its launch in Japan nine months earlier. To celebrate this milestone, Sony has introduced a “large-format photography book” that contains 400 pages of previously unseen photographs of console and controller prototypes. The book will also include concept sketches and design models that contributed to the development of Sony’s gaming consoles, as indicated on the PlayStation Blog.
In addition to the photography book, Sony has partnered with Reebok to create a new sneaker collection that honors the original PlayStation consoles. This collaboration features sneakers designed with a color palette inspired by the PlayStation, including shades of gray reminiscent of the consoles. Set to launch in October 2025, the PlayStation x Reebok collection will comprise three retro-style sneakers representing different regions of launch. These include the InstaPump Fury 94 for Japan, the Workout Plus for the United Kingdom, and the Pump Omni Zone II for the United States. Pricing and specific availability details for this collection have not yet been disclosed.
