Paramount Plus is set to increase its subscription prices in the United States on January 15, 2026, as revealed in the company’s recent earnings report. The cost of the ad-supported Essential plan will rise from $7.99 to $8.99 per month, while the ad-free Premium plan will increase from $12.99 to $13.99 per month.
The company has stated that the price hike aims to enhance the user experience and improve programming offerings. Paramount Plus has been adjusting its pricing strategy annually, having raised subscription fees in both 2023 and again in June. Recent adjustments have also affected users in Canada and Australia.
In the first several months under Skydance’s ownership, Paramount Plus has reported an addition of 1.4 million subscribers, bringing the total to 79.1 million. Notably, the company has entered a $7.7 billion agreement to feature live UFC fights on its platform.
In conjunction with the price increases, Paramount Plus announced that it will be discontinuing free trials for new subscribers and reviewing its discount practices. The company plans to enhance the technology behind both Paramount Plus and its free service, Pluto TV, with improvements aimed at performance and user experience. Additionally, there is an interest in utilizing artificial intelligence to provide better personalized recommendations to users.
This move comes amidst a competitive streaming landscape where many platforms are exploring similar pricing strategies to sustain and invest in their offerings.
