On Saturday, a significant protest occurred, marked as the largest demonstration since the outset of Donald Trump’s second term. Organizers of the No Kings protests reported that over seven million participants mobilized to express their dissent against the president and his policies. The group Indivisible, which spearheaded the protests, stated that approximately 2,700 events took place across all 50 states. This participation reflects an increase from its prior estimate of five million attendees at 2,000 events during its June No Kings event.
Notably, several individual protests drew more than 100,000 participants, with large gatherings reported in cities such as the Twin Cities, New York City, and Chicago, the latter of which saw around 250,000 attendees. Chicago’s turnout was particularly prominent, likely influenced by the city’s recent immigration enforcement actions that have generated significant public concern, including high-profile incidents involving ICE agents.
In response to the protests, the President and his administration shared various social media posts, some of which included controversial imagery. One particular post depicted the president dropping an object resembling feces onto protesters from a fighter jet. Additionally, multiple visuals referred to Donald Trump as “King Trump,” featuring images of him wearing a crown, including a post from the official White House account. The tone of the response from the administration has raised questions regarding its approach to public dissent.
