OnePlus and Hasselblad are parting ways

OnePlus has collaborated with Hasselblad since the launch of its 9 and 9 Pro flagship smartphones, which prominently featured the Hasselblad logo on their camera systems. This partnership appears to be evolving, as the upcoming OnePlus 14 may be branded as the OnePlus 15, possibly to avoid the number “4,” which is considered unlucky in China.

Hasselblad’s involvement extended beyond branding; it contributed to the development of imaging algorithms aimed at enhancing OnePlus’s photography capabilities. Previously seen as a weakness in the brand’s offerings, photography has become a noted strength for OnePlus. The company is now shifting this focus in-house by developing its own imaging technology called the OnePlus DetailMax Engine. This move raises questions about how the new engine will compare to the Oppo Lumo engine, which was introduced in April alongside the Oppo Find X8 Ultra and has been recognized for its impressive camera performance.
