Nvidia’s app gets global DLSS override and more control panel features

Nvidia will implement various updates to its app this week, aimed at enhancing features including DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) override options, the control panel, and Project G-Assist. Over the past 18 months, Nvidia has been working to integrate its legacy control panel options into the new app.

The upcoming update will introduce settings for anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, and ambient occlusion, which means users will no longer need to access the older control panel for adjustments to classic games. Additionally, the setup tool for Nvidia Surround will now be available within the Nvidia app.

One significant change is the addition of a global option for DLSS override settings, allowing users to apply their preferences across all compatible games rather than configuring them individually. The app’s overlay will also indicate the active DLSS settings when this option is enabled.

Another notable feature being introduced is the new Smooth Motion, which was initially limited to RTX 50-series graphics cards. This driver-based AI model aims to provide smoother gameplay for titles that do not support DLSS Frame Generation. Users of RTX 40-series GPUs will now have access to this feature, which is said to potentially double the perceived frame rate in supported games.

Moreover, Nvidia will optimize the G-Assist AI assistant by reducing its memory usage by 40 percent, which is expected to enhance response times without compromising performance.

These updates are scheduled to be rolled out for beta users on August 19th at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, with a general release anticipated the following week.
