Nintendo has announced the upcoming release of a mobile game titled Fire Emblem Shadows. This new title is described as a spinoff of the Fire Emblem series, featuring unique gameplay that combines role-playing elements with social deduction mechanics.
The game incorporates features reminiscent of Among Us, where players engage in battles with a strategic twist. In each battle scenario, one of the three allies is a secret disciple of shadows, aiming to derail the mission. Players can choose to play as either a disciple of light, whose goal is to navigate through complex mazes, or as a disciple of shadow. Following the completion of each battle, players will vote to identify the traitor among them, with the decision impacting the conditions of future battles. Success in identifying the treacherous disciple or the ability to mislead the others will significantly influence the game’s outcome.
Fire Emblem Shadows is set to be available on both iOS and Android platforms. The game will be free to download, but it will include optional in-app purchases.
Previously, Nintendo launched Fire Emblem Heroes, a gacha-style game that became immensely popular and profitable shortly after its release in 2017, continuing to receive updates and new content. This announcement comes alongside news of a new mainline entry for the Nintendo Switch, titled Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.
