Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology made its debut this year with TCL’s Z100 speakers. LG has now introduced the H7 soundbar, the first FlexConnect soundbar, which uses the Alpha 11 Gen 3 chip, the same chip found in LG’s OLEDs. This soundbar is part of LG’s Sound Suite, a modular home audio system set to be unveiled at CES 2026. The Sound Suite will also feature the M5 and M7 surround speakers and the W7 subwoofer, all of which incorporate Peerless Audio components.
One limitation of TCL’s implementation of Dolby FlexConnect was its restriction to just four connected speakers, including a subwoofer, alongside the requirement of a 2025 QM series TCL TV. Users had to choose between additional sound coverage with a fourth speaker or enhanced bass performance with a subwoofer. In contrast, LG’s Sound Suite allows connection of the soundbar with up to four surround speakers and a subwoofer, potentially achieving a 13.1.7-channel setup.
The H7 soundbar can be utilized with compatible LG TVs, including the 2026 premium lineup and the 2025 C5 and G5 OLEDs, but it is not mandatory. It can function independently as a lead device to connect to surround speakers and subwoofer, facilitating 27 different speaker configurations ranging from a simple stereo pair to a complete system.
LG’s setup process for FlexConnect speakers is reportedly quick, involving a brief musical clip to calibrate the speakers to their environment. The sound system can identify speaker placement and optimize surround sound accordingly, potentially simplifying a process that is often lengthy with traditional room correction software.
Additionally, LG employs ultra-wideband technology to adapt sound based on the listener’s position, a feature termed Sound Follow. The extent of customization available after setup, such as adjusting subwoofer levels, remains to be seen. The system will be evaluated further at CES, where details on its practical application in home settings will be assessed.
