Russian freediver Alexey Molchanov achieved a new world record by diving to a depth of 126 meters (413 feet) in a single breath at the AIDA Freediving World Championships held in Limassol, Cyprus. This dive is part of a category recognized as one of the most technically demanding in the sport of freediving.
During the dive, Molchanov utilized a headlight, two fins, and a rope as a reference point. The record-breaking depth surpassed his previous record of 125 meters set for 2024. In this latest performance, he managed to hold his breath for four minutes and 32 seconds.
This accomplishment highlights not only Molchanov’s skills but also the challenges involved in high-stakes freediving. Further context on the training and preparation involved in such feats may be of interest.
