Mitchum, a well-known deodorant brand, has issued an apology and recalled certain roll-on products after receiving reports from customers about skin irritation and discomfort following use. Specifically, users of Mitchum’s 48-hour roll-on anti-perspirant and deodorant shared experiences online, describing symptoms such as redness, itching, and painful “weeping spots.” Some customers detailed severe reactions, including sensations described as burning and significant discomfort affecting their daily activities, including sleep.
The company stated that a change in its manufacturing process had inadvertently impacted batches of the product sold in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. It emphasized that there had been no alteration to the product’s formula but acknowledged that a specific change in the manufacturing process had influenced how the roll-on interacted with users’ skin. To address the issue, Mitchum has reverted to the original manufacturing process and is working to remove the affected product from retail locations.
Mitchum expressed regret over the incidents, referring to the reactions as temporary skin irritations and advised customers who experienced issues to reach out to their customer service for assistance. The affected products include various 100ml roll-on options, notably Powder Fresh, Shower Fresh, Unscented, Pure Fresh, Flower Fresh, Ice Fresh, Clean Control, and Sport. The company has taken steps to ensure the problem is resolved and prevent future occurrences.
