Microsoft is initiating tests for AI-powered features through a new program called Windows AI Labs. Recent updates to Microsoft Paint have revealed references to this program, and Microsoft has confirmed that it aims to provide early access to innovative AI features within the Windows operating system.
According to Mike Harsh, partner director of product management at Microsoft, the Windows AI Labs program is intended as a pilot program focused on quickly gathering customer feedback regarding the usability and market alignment of novel AI features. This initiative emphasizes the importance of understanding user interest and feature practicality.
Although the prompt to engage with Windows AI Labs features has been identified in some pre-release versions of Paint, specific AI features slated for testing have not yet been disclosed. Recently, Microsoft has been enhancing Paint with functionality similar to that found in Adobe Photoshop, including elements like transparency and layers. It remains to be seen if future updates will integrate AI tools in a manner akin to features developed by Adobe for Photoshop.
