On Thursday, Meta AI unveiled a new feature called Vibes, which is a feed of short-form, AI-generated videos. This platform is designed to facilitate the remixing of videos created by various “creators and communities.” Users have the option to upload their own AI-generated videos to Vibes or share them across other Meta platforms, allowing friends and followers to view their creations.
The Vibes feed specifically showcases AI-generated content and is accessible only through the Meta AI app. It replaces the previous Discover feed, which allowed users to share their AI prompts and interactions with the Meta AI system. According to Meta’s VP of product, Connor Hayes, the earlier feed was aimed at demonstrating the capabilities of AI.
Vibes represents an evolution of this concept, emphasizing video content rather than prompts. The platform aims to facilitate creative inspiration and experimentation with Meta’s media tools. Videos on Vibes are displayed alongside the prompts that generated them. One example featured a video of mountain goats captured using a detailed prompt about their action in a snowy alpine setting.
Users are empowered to remix the videos by modifying elements such as music or animation. The newly created videos can then be shared on the Vibes feed or cross-posted as stories or Reels on Instagram and Facebook. Additionally, users on Instagram can interact with Meta AI videos directly and access remixing features through the Meta AI app.
