Mark Zuckerberg is excited to add more AI content to all your social feeds

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced during a recent earnings call that the company plans to introduce a significant amount of AI-generated content into users’ social media feeds. He stated that this initiative aligns with advancements in AI, which simplify the creation and sharing of content online.

Zuckerberg outlined the evolution of social media, highlighting two previous phases: the first, focused on content from friends and family; and the second, which incorporated creator-generated content. While he did not explicitly designate AI as a third phase, he emphasized its anticipated role in shaping future content delivery.

He further explained that recommendation systems capable of accurately interpreting AI-generated content will become increasingly important. Meta has already initiated the integration of AI tools across its applications and is exploring the development of dedicated AI social platforms.

Additionally, Meta’s CFO Susan Li reported that users have generated over 20 billion images on the newly launched Vibes app, which curates AI-generated videos. This app parallels offerings like OpenAI’s Sora. Zuckerberg remarked on Vibes as a new content format enabled by AI, suggesting there are numerous opportunities for future innovations in content creation.

In financial updates, Meta reported a revenue of $51.24 billion for the quarter, reflecting a 26% increase from the previous year. However, the company also faced a one-time tax charge of $15.93 billion linked to President Donald Trump’s tax legislation.

These developments raise questions about the future direction of social media regarding AI integration and content authenticity.
