Kuxiu has announced the release of its enhanced semi-solid state battery power bank, the S3, following the introduction of its first model seven months ago. The S3 features a capacity of 10,000mAh, which is twice that of its predecessor, the S2. This capacity is stated to be sufficient to nearly double the battery life of an iPhone, with actual performance varying by device model.
In addition to increased capacity, the S3 is Qi2.2-compatible, allowing it to wirelessly charge compatible devices at rates up to 25W. The new model is over 100 grams heavier than the S2, weighing in at 245 grams, primarily due to its larger battery. Kuxiu has also upgraded the power bank by increasing the number of N52 magnets from 16 to 18, aimed at reducing the likelihood of accidental disconnection from phones. The S3 now includes an integrated kickstand, a small display showing remaining capacity and charging status, and a built-in cable for charging other devices via a USB-C port with power delivery of up to 35W.
The pricing for the Kuxiu S3 is positioned higher than traditional wireless power banks with similar features, currently available for $149.98 but temporarily discounted to $68.99. The manufacturer notes that, unlike most power banks that experience capacity degradation after 300 to 500 cycles, the S3 is expected to retain about 80% capacity even after 1,000 charging cycles. This suggests a longer lifespan and minimized risks associated with issues such as thermal runaway in the event of accidental drops.
