Katie Porter, a Democratic representative from California, acknowledged that she could have approached a recent situation more thoughtfully following the release of a video in which she reprimanded a staff member during a 2021 interview.
The video, which surfaced last week, shows Porter raising her voice at an aide. In a subsequent interview, she expressed appreciation for her staff’s work and stated, “I think people who know me know I can be tough. But I need to do a better job expressing appreciation for the amazing work my team does.”
She reportedly issued an apology to the involved staff member following the incident.

Additionally, a clip from Porter’s interview with CBS California reporter Julie Watts gained attention due to a contentious dialogue, where Porter stated, “I don’t want to keep doing this. I’m going to call it,” while clapping her hands.
According to her campaign, the interview continued for another 20 minutes after this exchange. A spokesperson noted that Californians are looking for a governor who can stand up against Donald Trump, emphasizing Porter’s direct approach.
