A U.S. congressional committee has disclosed a redacted version of an alleged “birthday book” given to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 to commemorate his fiftieth birthday. Alongside this book, the released documents include Epstein’s will and personal address book, which contains contacts ranging from royalty to politicians and celebrities.
The 238-page book features messages and photographs from various individuals connected to Epstein, including a note purportedly signed by former President Donald Trump. Trump, however, has denied writing the note. Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, was found dead in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
This release followed a legal summons issued by the House Oversight Committee for documents related to Epstein’s estate. The committee also made public Epstein’s will and various entries from his address books spanning nearly three decades.
The alleged note from Trump includes a sketch and a signed message that reads, “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.” The White House has stated that Trump did not produce the note, asserting that the signature does not match his.
The book also contains entries from notable figures, including former President Bill Clinton, whose message highlighted Epstein’s “childlike curiosity.” Clinton’s office has yet to respond to requests for comments. An entry from Lord Peter Mandelson, the U.K. ambassador to the U.S., described Epstein as “my best pal.”
The contents of the book and the involvement of various high-profile individuals have sparked significant debate, with some calling for the full release of Epstein-related documents. The House Oversight Committee chairman criticized the release, claiming that the information was being politicized.
The ongoing dialogue has revealed growing calls for transparency concerning the so-called “Epstein files,” although this release may not satisfy all parties involved.
