This series is an adaptation of the Danish show Det Sidste Ord (The Last Word). In the Netflix version, Brad Falchuk, noted for co-creating American Horror Story and Glee, conducts these interviews on a soundstage utilizing remotely operated cameras. Notably, the interviews often involve questions framed in the past tense, an approach that includes reminders to the subjects that they are “dead.”
Goodall’s episode offers insight into her candid thoughts. Known for her outspoken nature, she expresses unfiltered opinions in what is portrayed as her final interview. Some of her remarks include strong criticisms of various political figures, suggesting hypothetical scenarios wherein she would send certain individuals, including Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and others, on a spacecraft designed for exploration, reflecting her disdain for their actions.
The format of Famous Last Words raises questions regarding the nature of interviews conducted with individuals posthumously, as well as the implications of sharing opinions without the concern of public backlash.
