Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly a prince, expressed distress in a 2011 email relating to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, stating, “I can’t take any more of this.” This email was part of recently released documents tied to Epstein’s estate, which included communications containing mentions of prominent individuals, including former President Donald Trump.
The email exchange occurred after Andrew received a right-of-reply request from the Mail on Sunday regarding claims about him. He denied any knowledge of the allegations, asserting that they had nothing to do with him. The recent revelations follow a request from U.S. Congress, specifically from Democratic Congressman Suhas Subramanyam, for Andrew to testify concerning Epstein’s activities. Although Andrew has yet to respond, Subramanyam noted that he could appear remotely.
Virginia Giuffre, known for accusing Epstein of abuse, alleged that Andrew had sexual encounters with her when she was a minor. Andrew has consistently denied these claims and reached an out-of-court settlement with Giuffre in 2022, which did not include any admission of guilt. Following new scrutiny of his connections to Epstein and Maxwell, Andrew was stripped of his titles earlier this month.
Furthermore, the released documents contained references to Trump, with emails indicating his acquaintance with Epstein. In one instance, Epstein claimed Trump had spent time at his residence with an unnamed individual, which led to comments from the White House clarifying that Giuffre had previously stated Trump was uninvolved in any wrongdoing. Tensions have arisen, with House Republicans pushing back against perceived selective document releases by Democrats.
The documents also illuminated Andrew’s association with Epstein, confirming a photograph of him with Giuffre. In his previous statements, Andrew had denied remembering the photo’s context. Additionally, correspondence revealed ongoing connections between former UK politician Lord Mandelson and Epstein as late as 2016, although Mandelson has expressed regret regarding their relationship.
