Huawei Mate 70 Air is a little thick for a thin phone

Huawei has introduced the Mate 70 Air, a new phone characterized by its slim design. This release follows models from Apple and ZTE that also emphasize thinness, indicating a trend in the industry. The Mate 70 Air measures 6.6mm in thickness, making it slightly thicker than its competitors, yet it features a notable 6,500mAh battery, which surpasses the 4,800mAh capacity of the Motorola Edge 70. This considerable battery size raises questions about how Apple and Samsung will respond in terms of battery performance in their upcoming models.

The device boasts a large 7-inch screen, maintaining a substantial presence in the smartphone market. Additionally, customers can choose between two processing options: one with 12GB of RAM featuring the Kirin 9020B chip, and another with 16GB of RAM powered by the Kirin 9020A, both of which are modified versions of the standard Kirin 9020. It is equipped with a triple rear camera system, including a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, which is particularly noteworthy for a device of its thin profile.

Currently, the Mate 70 Air is only available in China, with a starting price of ¥4,199, approximately $590. As the smartphone market continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the competition will adapt to innovations in battery capacity and design introduced by Huawei.
