PUTRAJAYA, Aug 23 — Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister, has stated that claims regarding the issuance of a ‘graduate pass’ for 10,000 Bangladeshi students to work in Malaysia are false. This clarification follows remarks made by Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah, the Kedah Industry and Investment, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman, who suggested during a TikTok video that such a measure would be undertaken.
Dr Zambry asserted that no Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the recent visit of Bangladeshi Interim Government Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, which would obligate Malaysia to provide employment passes for these students. He emphasized that Haim Hilman’s statement stemmed from a newspaper article in Bangladesh and was not based on verified facts.
The minister criticized Haim Hilman for spreading what he termed inconsistent and misleading information, advising that statements related to higher education should be grounded in credible evidence. Dr Zambry highlighted the need for integrity in information dissemination, especially from individuals associated with academia.
