According to a recent report from Android Headlines, Google is expected to upgrade its next-generation Nest Cams from 1080p to 2K resolution. The report also includes leaked images showing new colors for the upcoming devices. Among the updates, both a battery-powered Nest Cam and its indoor-only version may feature enhanced capabilities powered by Gemini, with a potential rebranding of the Nest Aware package.
The battery-powered Nest Cam is anticipated to be available in white and gray, while the wired indoor model might feature a “berry” red option. The report further suggests that a new Nest Doorbell will also include 2K video and introduce AI-powered “Daily Summaries,” which will provide daily recaps of recorded events. Color options for the doorbell include white, beige, and gray.
Additionally, details have emerged regarding a new Google Home Speaker, which made a brief appearance during the Pixel 10 launch event. This speaker is rumored to offer 360-degree audio and may be able to pair with a Google TV Streamer. The speaker is expected to feature a “Sound Sensing” capability that can identify noises such as breaking glass or smoke alarms.
There are also plans to rename the Nest Aware subscription to “Google Home Premium” and to introduce a new tier called “Google Home Premium Advanced.” However, specific details regarding the offerings of this new tier have not been disclosed.
Currently, existing Nest owners can update the Google Home app to access several new camera management features. These updates include preview snapshots in camera tiles, event notification previews with static thumbnails, improved live camera playback, and enhanced navigation for recorded videos, allowing users to skip ahead or back by double-tapping the video player.
