An autopsy conducted on French streamer Raphaël Graven, who was known online as Jean Pormanove, indicates that his death was not due to trauma, according to prosecutor Damien Martinelli. Graven was found deceased at a residence in Contes, a village north of Nice, on Monday. In response to the incident, French government minister Clara Chappaz characterized the situation as “absolute horror” and initiated a judicial investigation to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Prosecutor Martinelli stated on Thursday that medical examiners determined that Graven’s passing “was not traumatic in origin” and did not involve the intervention of a third party. Forensic doctors reported no internal or external traumatic injuries or burns, with only minor bruises and healed lesions noted. Investigations suggest that the probable causes of death could be medical and/or toxicological in nature. Further tests have been ordered, and it is indicated that Graven might have experienced heart issues and was undergoing treatment for a thyroid condition.
Additionally, a spokesperson for the streaming platform Kick mentioned that the company is “urgently reviewing” the circumstances concerning Graven’s death. Local media sources reported that the 46-year-old had experienced episodes of violence and sleep deprivation during his streams, ultimately passing away during a live broadcast.
On Wednesday, prosecutor Martinelli revealed that several individuals present at the scene at the time of the incident have been interviewed by police. Furthermore, equipment and videos have been confiscated as part of the investigation to provide clarity on the events leading up to Graven’s death and any potential contributing factors.
