Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani injured in car accident

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, was involved in a car accident in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday evening. At the time of the incident, he was a passenger in a Ford Bronco, which was struck from behind, as reported by local police. According to a statement from his security guard, Michael Ragusa, Giuliani sustained a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg.

All individuals involved in the crash, including Giuliani, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. The accident is noted to have occurred shortly after Giuliani had assisted someone who signaled for help regarding a domestic violence situation. Ragusa mentioned that Giuliani contacted 911 to report the incident.

Local police were already investigating a reported domestic violence case when they observed the crash across the road. Both vehicles involved were heavily damaged and ended up in the median as a result of the impact. Investigators have identified the driver of the vehicle that struck Giuliani’s car, but no formal charges have been filed, and the incident remains under investigation.

Giuliani, who served as mayor from 1994 to 2001, gained national prominence for his leadership during the September 11 attacks. He was later involved in Donald Trump’s campaigns and legal matters, although their professional relationship has since ended. Recently, he reached a tentative settlement related to a defamation lawsuit from two former election workers following his unfounded claims of election fraud after the 2020 presidential election.
