Elon Musk has urged Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to investigate Blizzard employees who made critical comments about Charlie Kirk following his death. Musk referenced a thread on X that included names and screenshots of the developers involved.
This inquiry from Musk comes amid a broader campaign by some Republican figures aimed at censoring individuals who expressed support for or celebrated Kirk’s death. Representative Clay Higgins (R-LA) stated his intention to utilize congressional powers to impose lifetime bans on any comments or posts that diminish the significance of Kirk’s assassination.
Mark Kern, a former Blizzard developer who is active in online discussions regarding right-wing topics, cited the original thread, suggesting that the posts captured Blizzard employees disparaging Kirk. Musk subsequently shared Kern’s post along with his question to Nadella.
In response, Microsoft acknowledged awareness of opinions expressed by a limited group of employees regarding the situation. The company emphasized its commitment to reviewing each case and declared that comments endorsing violence are unacceptable and do not reflect its values. It should be noted that the screenshots highlighted in the thread shared by Musk do not include any comments celebrating violence against Kirk. As of now, Nadella has not publicly responded to Musk’s inquiry.
