East Riding of Yorkshire Council is offering residents a £40 shopping voucher as an incentive to complete the Let’s Talk Money course, aimed at improving financial literacy. The course covers essential topics such as budgeting and the use of online price comparison tools. It is designed to enhance residents’ understanding of their finances and familiarize them with available financial support.
The sessions are free for individuals aged 19 and over who have an income of less than £25,000; a fee applies for those earning above this threshold. The courses will be conducted in various locations, including Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Goole, and Withernsea.
Council leader Anne Handley emphasized the importance of supporting lifelong learning in the East Riding and encouraged residents to register for the sessions. The scheduled dates for the sessions are as follows:
– December 2 and 9, from 10:00 to 12:30 GMT, at Goole Adult Learning Centre
– December 4, from 10:00 to 15:30 GMT, at Bridlington Adult Learning Centre
– December 8, from 10:00 to 12:30 GMT, at Cottingham Adult Learning Centre
– December 12, from 09:30 to 15:00 GMT, at Beverley Adult Learning Centre
– December 12, from 10:00 to 15:30 GMT, at Cottingham Worklink
Additional sessions are planned for January and February, according to council announcements. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance community financial literacy.
