A 19-minute video featuring a young couple in an explicit scenario has gained significant attention on social media platforms since its emergence in late November. The video, which some suggest may have been created using artificial intelligence (AI), has drawn various reactions, with speculations regarding the individuals involved and the authenticity of the content.
Amit Yadav, an officer from the Haryana Narcotics Control Bureau’s Cyber Cell, has urged the public not to share the video. He warned that doing so could lead to legal repercussions, including fines and imprisonment. Yadav noted that the video is AI-generated and recommended that individuals verify the authenticity of videos by visiting ‘siteengine.com.’
The legal framework under the Information Technology Act, 2000, includes Section 67 and Section 67A, which govern the transmission of obscene material and sexually explicit content, respectively. Violating these sections can result in fines up to ₹2 lakh and imprisonment for up to three years. Repeat offenses may incur longer sentences.
- Why it matters: The incident highlights the potential legal consequences of sharing explicit content online, particularly in light of rapidly evolving AI technology that makes content creation easier and more deceptive.
- The latest: On December 10, Haryana police confirmed the video is AI-generated and reiterated the risks of sharing it without verification.
