Democrats in Congress release alleged Trump birthday note to Epstein

Democrats in Congress have shared a document that they claim is a note signed by former President Donald Trump and addressed to Jeffrey Epstein on the occasion of Epstein’s 50th birthday. This document was provided by the lawyers representing Epstein’s estate, following a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee issued last month.

On Monday, Democratic committee members posted the alleged letter on social media platform X. However, the White House has stated that the signature on the note does not belong to Trump. Trump previously referred to the letter as “a fake thing” and denied writing it, stating, “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt affirmed on Monday that Trump did not sign the note or draw any accompanying illustrations. She indicated that Trump’s legal team is actively pursuing litigation related to the matter. The note itself reads, “Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

The House Oversight Committee had issued a legal summons to the executors of Epstein’s estate, requesting various documents, including a birthday book that reportedly features the note attributed to Trump. In response to coverage by the Wall Street Journal, Trump has initiated a lawsuit against the newspaper’s journalists, publisher, and News Corp’s owner Rupert Murdoch, contesting the publication’s claims. Dow Jones, the Journal’s publisher, defended its reporting, expressing confidence in its accuracy.

On social media, Taylor Budowich, the White House deputy chief of staff, asserted that the signature did not belong to Trump and suggested that the issue constituted defamation. Reports indicated that Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell created the birthday book in 2003, which contained messages from Epstein’s acquaintances, including a note attributed to Trump. Although Trump and Epstein maintained a friendly relationship for years, Trump has stated that their friendship dissolved in the early 2000s. Epstein faced criminal charges beginning in 2006 and died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial.
