Adobe has introduced new features for ChatGPT users that enable design and editing capabilities without needing to switch applications. The launch includes apps for Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express, allowing users to create designs or modify photos and PDFs through descriptive commands.
These Adobe apps are accessible for free. Users can initiate them by typing the app name along with an uploaded file and specific instructions, such as “Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image.” Once the app is activated in a conversation, users do not need to mention it again for subsequent modifications. Depending on the input, the apps may generate a range of results or include user interface elements, like sliders for contrast and brightness adjustments.
However, it is important to note that the capabilities of these ChatGPT-integrated apps do not fully replicate those of Adobe’s desktop software. The Photoshop app, for example, can edit specific image sections, apply creative effects, and modify settings like brightness, contrast, and exposure. The Acrobat function allows for editing existing PDFs, compressing and converting documents into PDF format, extracting text or tables, and merging multiple files.
Additionally, the Adobe Express app facilitates the generation and editing of designs within ChatGPT, covering aspects such as text and image replacement, color alterations, and animation of specific sections. For users requiring more detailed control, projects created in ChatGPT can be transferred to Adobe’s native applications.
These Adobe applications are available globally on desktop, web, and iOS platforms, with the Adobe Express app also compatible with Android devices. Support for Photoshop and Acrobat on Android is expected to arrive soon. The integration of Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps into ChatGPT may enhance their competitive position against offerings like Google’s Gemini AI, which added image editing capabilities earlier this year.
