A black and white cat named Michi has gained significant attention online for his methodical approach to crossing streets. The cat’s owner, TikToker Zeenie (@sshoopdoobadoobadoo), posted a video that shows Michi pausing at the edge of the road to look both ways before crossing to join her. The video has garnered 2.1 million likes and 7.2 million views.

In her post, Zeenie described Michi as intelligent, highlighting this behavior as particularly noteworthy for an outdoor cat. Traffic accidents pose a major threat to outdoor cats, often leading to severe injuries or fatalities, according to Cats Protection. As a precaution, the organization recommends that cats be kept indoors at night, microchipped, and have access to safely enclosed outdoor areas.

The Blue Cross also notes that outdoor cats face additional risks, including diseases and fights with other animals, which can result in shorter life spans compared to indoor cats. Nonetheless, outdoor cats engage in natural behaviors that contribute to their physical and mental well-being.
