BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — A Baltimore grand jury issued an indictment on Monday against Kevin Weaver, a 41-year-old bouncer from Halethorpe, related to an incident at a Federal Hill bar. Weaver faces charges of first- and second-degree assault in connection with an altercation involving a Loyola University Maryland student.
The incident occurred outside the Cross Street Public House, where Weaver was working as a security guard. Prosecutors allege that Weaver used excessive force while removing the student, who had been escorted out by another guard for allegedly being overly talkative. Weaver’s defense attorney asserts that the student had been involved in a physical altercation inside the bar, and that the video evidence does not portray the situation accurately, suggesting that both men were off balance during the struggle.
In addition to the criminal charges, Weaver is also a defendant in a civil lawsuit filed by the student.
