Blackmagic’s free camera app can now stream to YouTube and Twitch

Blackmagic has updated its free camera application for both Android and iOS, introducing features aimed at streamers and professional broadcasters. The app now enables direct streaming to platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, and Vimeo, eliminating the need for external applications or specialized encoding hardware. Users simply need to choose their desired streaming platform and input a secure stream key. During broadcasts, the app allows access to various controls for adjustments like exposure and focus in real time.

Additionally, the update incorporates support for the SRT protocol, which is often utilized by professional broadcasters and is designed for networks with variable speeds and reliability. The Blackmagic Camera app also now accommodates custom RTMP and SRT servers, providing streamers with alternative options beyond the supported platforms.

Further enhancements include immediate alerts when an external drive is disconnected, aimed at preventing data loss when recording high-resolution and high-framerate Apple ProRes files that cannot be stored internally by the iPhone. The update also adds a feature that allows users to select the number of multi-view angles while monitoring remote cameras, enhancing customization options for viewing multiple video feeds on larger devices such as iPads or Macs.
