The new AudioKit VIRAL Synth T2x, an AUv3 Synthesizer for iOS devices, has been launched, drawing inspiration from the Virus TI2 synthesizer series. The Virus TI2’s production was discontinued in February 2024, marking the end of a popular hardware synthesizer.
In response to this, the DSP56300 team created a plugin to emulate the Virus TI2, while AudioKit’s Matthew Fecher states that the VIRAL Synth T2x is not a direct emulation but a standalone instrument with a distinctive character. The app features a 64-voice virtual analog engine with two oscillators offering over 48 waveforms inspired by the Virus TI2.
VIRAL Synth T2x includes a multi-FX processor with several effects, a hardware-style arpeggiator, and a vintage-style step sequencer. Additionally, it contains a trance gate sequencer and two touchpads for real-time parameter adjustments. The app is equipped with more than 500 presets contributed by various musicians.
Currently, the AudioKit VIRAL Synth T2x is available at an introductory price of $4.99, down from the regular price of $19.99. It operates as both a standalone app and an AUv3 plugin on iPhone and iPad.
